Mom's Mums

This auction finds Ann Estelle and her dad creeping into the house after a fun Saturday morning running errands!
"BE QUIET, DAD!!" Ann Estelle cries in a stage whisper
. . . . . ."We don't want MOM to hear us. . . . it will ruin the surprise!!"

Her Dad laughingly replies, " But Ann,  you know your Mom has 'teacher ears'!!! We can't get away with anything!"

With that comment, Ann's Mom rounds the corner and abruptly stops, saying with a smile . . . . . .."AND what are you two up to this time???? Getting into trouble again, I bet!"
Ann Estelle and Dad sheepishly look at each other, shrug their shoulders, and yell . . . . .  "Happy First Day of Fall"  - while holding out the pot of richly colored autumn Chrysanthemums they bought Mom for her garden!

All dressed up for her morning adventure with Dad, Ann Estelle wears an adorable calf length pleated dress with a cozy matching sweater.

Though it is one piece, the dress is made in a "skirt & blouse" style. The skirt is made of a medium weight woven cotton fabric in a checked plaid, richly colored with a medley of pinks, violets and blues. The skirt has a central inverted pleat with knife pleats all around. Vintage pink rickrack trims the bottom edge, and a small hand embroidered floral motif decorates the edges of the central pleat. The cap sleeved attached blouse is made of broadcloth in a pale pink color. It has a button trimmed accent band down the center front, and the neck and sleeves are rimmed in the plaid. The dress has back snap closures.

Over the dress, Ann wears a cozy hand knit, long sleeved sweater in a rich violet or grape colored mohair. An attached collar that matches the skirt provides an accent. The front of the sweater is embellished with sprays of handmade rickrack flowers and embroidered vines, and is dotted with tiny seed beads. The sweater closes with a row of small buttons.

Setting off her adorable face, Ann wears a beguiling head hugging hat, knit of violet/grape colored mohair. The hat is embellished with a matching plaid side is knotted,...the other side, adorned with a spray of rickrack flowers, embroidery and seed beads to match the sweater.

My . . . .that is quite the Chrysanthemum that Ann and her Dad have bought Mom!!!  Ann's arms are filled with a large clay flowerpot, just brimming with violet and red mums!
