A Bit of Background about Dress*Ups by pj

************

It all began with Barbie. . . . .

 . . . . my "career" as a doll clothes "artist" that is!!  A tad rough the outfits may have been, as I was quite young and new to sewing. . .  but I was very dedicated and eager nonetheless.  (And boy do I wish I still had all those VINTAGE BARBIES!!)

 As I got a bit older, the children I  babysat  were the recipients of my "creations". . . then I was off to college to become a REAL artist!

Doll clothes went by the way side for many years as I was busy living life and teaching senior High school art students.  During this time I pursued my grad work in an old favorite. . . . fiber arts, learning about fibers, and the great things to do with . . . and to them!  Dying. weaving,  stitchery and  even needle felting!

Then a few years ago I rediscovered the world of dolls. . . .and the world of ebay.  Lured by the charm of the vintage Mary Hoyer dolls and a desire to return to the world of creating, my Mom and I started Dress*Ups by pj . . . . and what fun we have had ever since.
~~~~~~
 Currently, I design and create all of my ensembles as One Of A Kind fashions. Each article of doll "art" is my own design, and each is crafted to achieve a realistic fit for the doll.
Attention to detail is always my focus. All ensembles feature classical needle workings of my own design, which are always hand rendered. All hems are hand stitched, bodices lined and seams hand finished or enclosed. I take great joy in handcrafting miniature accessories to accompany each outfit.
My Mother works with me on these ensembles, providing her perspective and opinions as well as making the lovely knitted items that are the cornerstone of many of the outfits.
With each ensemble, I strive to achieve a blend of quality and originality that will bring you as much pleasure owning it as it has given me making it.
